We met two years ago at a 4th of July celebration in Blacksburg, Virginia. Robert had lived in Blacksburg for the past seven years; Sara was just passing through to visit a mutual friend. We saw each other the following day as well, but then parted ways without exchanging numbers.
But we weren't about to let that little setback stop us! Both of us spent the following week looking for an excuse to reach out online. It was Sara that found one first: passing through Blacksburg again “on the way” back home. Neither of us felt the need to point out that Blacksburg was not in fact on her way home.
After her second visit, we began talking on a daily basis and quickly found ourselves in a long distance relationship. This was the kind of long distance relationship where we saw each other every weekend and were not actually very long distance at all. By the end of the year we were both pretty tired of driving back and forth, and ready for something more. So we moved in together.
Over the next year, Sara continued working toward her PhD and Robert managed to find new web development contracts in the DC area. Near the end of our first year living together, Robert cooked a lovely candlelit dinner and proposed! The engagement was followed by another move into a nicer apartment, and the newest addition to our little family: a rescued Yorkie named Bentley.
It will be a casual outdoor ceremony, so you may want to dress light. A reception will follow immediately, inside the lodge.
Please RSVP By May 1st, 2016.
We have reserved rooms at the Hampton Inn in Front Royal for the weekend of the wedding (Friday, May 20th and Saturday, May 21st). Rooms are $134 per night and must be booked by April 18th. As a less expensive option, we've also reserved rooms at Quality Inn. These are $75 per night and must be booked by May 6th. Please mention The Anderson/Wiles Wedding when booking rooms at either hotel.
Having already lived together for the past year and a half, we have most of the essentials covered. Instead we've registered for vacation items, a number of specialty kitchen items (we love to cook together), and a handful of upgrades where our simple essentials just aren't quite cutting it. Of course the most important gift you can bring is yourself, we can't wait to share this day with everyone!
